Hardwater Heroes - Ice Fishing Event 2023
The LLIA is again supporting the Hardwater Heroes and their Ice Fishing event on Lauderdale Lakes on Saturday January 28, 2023.
Here is an overview and request from Hardwater Heroes coordinator John Matejovsky:
Hardwater Heroes is a not‐for‐profit volunteer organization committed to honoring, recognizing, and giving back to our country’s military veterans and first responders.
Hardwater Heroes is proud to be part of the Healing Patriots 501c3 organization (82‐1513097).
In 2023, we will be hosting our eighth annual Hardwater Heroes outing.
The mission of Hardwater Heroes is to introduce military members and first responders to the great sport of ice fishing. Our goal this year is to host thirty honored guests with their families. Each honoree receives a full breakfast, a new American Flag with commemorative recognition, guided ice fishing (gear and bait included), access to ice fishing shacks, transportation on the ice to the fishing grounds, a pizza party, and a prize bag made up of generous donations from the community.
Our team is proud and honored to give back to so many who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.
The event kicks off with the playing of the national anthem. Following the national anthem, we then have a brief speech thanking all the veterans and first responders in attendance. Following the speech, it is a day on the hardwater (ice) for all to remember.
Request for donations to be used for the event:
Our organization is a not‐for profit and relies solely on donations from the community. We are requesting any form of donation. Any donations of large prizes for raffles, small items to be given to the honored veterans and first responders, clothing, merchandise, gifts cards, etc. is accepted and appreciated.
